Savagery is not nice...

I do not listen to Savage at all. But today, September 21st, I turned on my radio, wanting to hear the voice of some moderate commentator. But who do I get? Savage. I've heard plenty of his far-right antics, but today scared me.

I turned on my radio to hear him spewing some stuff that the ACLU would tear down this country etc.. But then he got onto the topic of terrorism. He was telling us how he would like to drop some nukes on 'at least five capitals' in the Mid-East to teach those terrorists a lesson. He was saying how 'for every person beheaded by a terrorist, we should destroy a little village in Iran.' He was going on and on about these crazy plans, and then he said this: There is a skirmish on the war on terror being fought in Italy. The Muslim population is now reaching 700,000 there. This is but a skirmish, but we need to take care of this before it gets out of hand. He didn't say this exactly, but this is the general idea of what he said.

My question is: There are 700,000 Muslims in Italy... and?

He got a caller on and the caller said that: The Talmud is a much more dangerous writing than the Qu'ran, and went on for a little bit longer. Savage proceeded to liken this man to Hitler and ask him why he doesn't toss all the Jews in ovens. Hmm, it seems like this man only said the Talmud is a dangerous writing, not that Jews should be annihilated. But, Savage, goes on and tells him how much of a bigot he is, while the guy stammers in shock. Savage says: Since the Talmud is commentary on the Old Testament, and you hate the Talmud, then don't you hate the Old Testament? When the guy said no, Savage started going on and on... I turned the radio off at that point.

What's funny is that Savage was calling him a bigot whereas I was listening to Savage and he sounded extraordinarily like an Islamophobe.

If you dislike a commentary does that mean you dislike the piece of work being commented on? I don't know where Savage was going with that.

What amazed me was that Savage managed to do this in about 10 minutes time!

I am certainly no Democrat or Liberal, but I was shocked at the vitriol that was spewing forth from Savage's mouth.
Today, I learned that the far-right can be just as crazy as the far-left.

Well I listened for about 25 minutes and I must say: While he is an extremist and I cannot back all of what he says - his opinions are pretty out there - some of it I do agree with. Mainly: it is darn entertaining. He's a bit emotional (not surprised that he is an ex-hippie, as am I). I just have to admit. I was very entertained. I'll probably listen again. I can see why some hate him and why kooks worship him. I fall into neither camp. I just think he is entertaining. Kinda like Arnold or Madonna - you don't have to subscribe to their views to appreciate how they express them. Its entertainment.
